Just a quick update on the MNP situation and what we’re up to! We’ve settled on a way to mount iPods to shrubs… clamps and wire seem to do the trick!
Peak flowering at the Barstow BLM site (pictured below), although shrubs are behind the annuals… waiting to see if they’ll catch up so we can do a round of surveys and manipulations before Kelso is in bloom. Preliminary surveys on shrubs and annuals that are present are done (and shrubs picked and flagged), but can’t do pollen sampling or video trials until shrubs flower.
Insects are still pretty behind at the Barstow site, but some bees are starting to emerge and mate.
Plants are growing at Kelso, but still a couple weeks away from flowering at least. Although the shrubs seem to be on the same track as the annuals (yay!) and little flower heads are beginning to appear on Larrea.
